One year after Desert Flower Foundation Sierra Leone has been established it is already very successful in the fight against FGM and became an influential organization in the country. Our project, "Save a little Desert Flower" was received there very well and today many parents across the whole country want to sign sponsoring contracts with the Desert Flower Foundation. However, our team in Sierra Leone had to overcome big obstacles. The Ebola crisis complicated their work as the country was repeatedly affected by curfews and closure of schools. Despite all these problems taking care of our little Desert Flowers and their families worked without complaint.

Our team was explaining not only the terrible consequences of FGM to the families, but also kept informing them how people can protect themselves from Ebola. This contributed significantly to the positive image of the Desert Flower Foundation in this country.

It will be our pleasure to introduce our new little Desert Flowers to you in the next few days, since our team from Sierra Leone provided us with numerous photos and reports last weekend.

We would like to sincerely thank our staff in Sierra Leone for their great work as well as those of you who generously support Desert Flower Foundation and the little Desert Flowers.
