Britain's new interior minister vows to end FGM

Almost 200,000 women and girls in England and Wales have undergone FGM

Almost 200,000 women and girls in England and Wales have undergone FGM.
Female Genital Mutilation has been illegal in the UK for over 30 years, but  the number of women and girls affected by FGM is still rising. Nevertheless there has been not one successful prosecution against FGM since.

Now new interior minister Amber Rudd vows to be a part to end female genital mutilation.

Amber Rudd, who  was made interior minister four months ago, demands serious action against the inhuman procedure of FGM.

She is determined to see Britain's first successfull prosecution for FGM!

Great Britian introduced laws, training programmes for teachers and medical professionals in order to identify girls and women who are at risk, but until now the protection failed. Rudd's determination could be the willingness to act that was missing until now.

It's certainly a further step in the right direction, we hope to see action!
