Good News from our happiest Desert Flowers

Safa and Inab, our happy Desert Flowers from Djibouti!

9 years ago we saved little Safa from her upcoming genital mutilation.
Safa grew up in a slum in Djibouti. In 2008 she was selected to play the role of Little Waris in the screen adaption of the bestselling novel "Desert Flower" by Waris Dirie.

When Waris Dirie found out that Safa's parents already planned to cut her in real life, Waris decided to do everything to save this little girl.

Thanks to your help and support Safa can now lead a life in integrity. She attends school every day and is one of the best students in her class.

With our support, Safa has also managed to save her little sister from being cut!

Her best friend Inab, whose brother also played a role in the movie, was the first woman to be treated in our Desert Flower Center in Berlin.
After being cut, Inab looked for help in our Center and got a surgery.

Today she lives in Djibouti.

Together with Safa she fights against the cruel procedure of FGM.

From now on Safa and Inab will regurarly share their life and their fight against FGM with you.
