The supreme court of NSW in Sydney has come to a decision.
The mother of two girls, now aged 10 and 12, and a nurse were both found guilty of carrying out FGM on each sister.
A spiritual leader in the Dawoodi Bohra Shia Muslim sect was found guilty of being an accessory after the fact by attempting to help cover up the FGM after police began investigating.
Bail was granted to all three despite the flight risk. The mother and the nurse had each travelled overseas on bail and returned to Australia.
So far.
They each face seven years in jail. The sentencing will be on 5th of Feburary.
FGM is a crime. We keep on demanding the prosecution of those committing this crime.
