After many promises the UK governement finally introduced new guidelines to better educate medical professionals about the signs and effects of FGM.
The main goal is to prevent more women and girls from going through the cruel ritual of FGM. Alongside doctors and nurses shall be taught how best to support them if they have been a victim of female genital mutilation.
The guidlines are not only aimed at medical professionals, but also teachers, the police and local authority workers.
It’s the first right step against FGM from the UK
