Children, parents and teachers were happy - the whole community benefits from it
Our "Kiera Chaplin Desert Flower School" in River Number 2 (Sierra Leone) is not even officially opened yet, already there is the first service. A school doctor with a mobile ambulance visited the community for the first time and the residents were overjoyed. The crowd was huge (see photos below left). Because all children, parents, but also all teachers received a free medical check in the school and if needed the necessary medicines.
Word got around immediately. And that's exactly what we want. The school was only built by us after the whole community had renounced female genital mutilation (FGM). Other comunities see the benefits of banishing their bloody FGM ritual forever. This means: We do not only fight against female genital circumcision and give children in Africa a school education, we can also provide medical care thanks to your donations. This is very important for our local acceptance.
