Here the first Desert Flower school is being built

Founder Waris Dirie is happy with her godchildren

The school project of Waris Dirie and her Desert Flower Foundation in Sierra Leone is taking on more and more concrete forms. Now there are also pictures of the construction of the first Desert Flower school in the West African state. Clear to see: The foundation stands, the walls are built. Good, because there is no time to lose. The roof has to be finished before the rainy season starts.

"I am so happy and grateful," says Waris Dirie. The construction of the first Desert Flower school is a key project in her fight against female genital mutilation in Sierra Leone. Why? Waris Dirie: "Only through targeted school education and extensive education do we have a chance against FGM. We must make the children and their families aware that this terrible crime against girls no longer has any place in our time."

The Desert Flower Foundation supports more than 1000 children in Sierra Leone alone and enables them to attend school. With the construction of the first Desert Flower school a next milestone is set. Of course, all this was made possible by your generous donations. Please continue to support us. Only together can we put an end to FGM!
