Today is World Population Day!
This year’s celebration has been themed by „Investing in teenage Girls“.
The UN campaign will focus upon gender inequality regarding education, forced marriages, sexual violence, female genital mutilation (FGM) and coercion.
When teenage girls are empowered they become agents of positive change in their communities. It is of great importance to focus also on marginalised girls, who are vulnerable to poor reproductive health and more likely to become mothers while still children themselves.
Every woman has the right to understand and control their own body and life.
Empowering girls through education, protection and information is crucial in the fight against FGM and poverty.
Let’s stand together and invest in education and information for teenage girls!
