My name is Nenneh Kamara and I am a Desert Flower.
It is my dream to become a nurse and help other people.
Before I became part of the Desert Flower Sponsorship Program, this dream seemed to never come true.
My father is a farmer, my mother a gardener. They both have a lot of work, but their income is so low that for a long time we still had to fight for survival each day.
We live in a very poor neighborhood. Our nearest watering place is over half a mile away.
The way to this place is very dangerous. I have heard many times that girls and women were raped and abused while fetching water.
Thanks to the Desert Flower Foundation, we have a better life now and my parents have the opportunity to protect me, and could save me from FGM and forced marriage!
Thanks to the financial support now they have got more time to spend with me and my brother.
I am now attending fifth grade and I study a lot so that some day my dream will come true!
Please save a little Desert Flower and let dreams come true!
