Waris Dirie doesn't let up, always keeps moving. That's her nature. In keeping with this, she has now launched the new "Born Nomad, Born Free" campaign with the sustainable shoe brand Vivobarefoot. "I'm particularly proud of this collaboration", explains Waris Dirie. "With the campaign I am collecting donations for my Desert Flower schools, I already have 10.000 Euro together." But that wasn't all. For every pair of shoes sold, another donation goes to the Desert Flower Foundation.
When Vivobarefoot called, Waris Dirie didn't hesitate long. Immediately a creative exchange developed. The shoes are made of 100% World Fair Trade materials and have a "Born Nomad, Born Free" print, inspired by Waris Dirie. "I was born and raised as a Nomad. As a child I never had a pair of shoes and always walked around barefoot. I understand the importance of healthy, natural feet. These shoes would have been perfect for me in the desert."
With a purchase you actively support the work of the Desert Flower Foundation. That means: Our big educational initiative in Africa, the construction of the first Desert Flower schools in Sierra Leone and the associated fight against the terrible practice of female genital mutilation (FGM). We give girls a school education and the chance for a more self-determined life. So we want to eradicate FGM once and for all! That is our motivation.
The "Born Nomad, Born Free" shoes are now available on https://www.vivobarefoot.com/uk. Thank you!
