Last week, The Cairo Post published a shocking article revealing that FGM is offered ridiculously cheap in the Souq al-Goma'a (Friday Market) in al-Sayeda Aishia district in Cairo. Only 50 EGP (about 6 $) is enough to cut a girl there.

Desert Flower Foundation program throughout the country

Since the 18th century FGM is practiced in Sierra Leone. The ones who are responsible for this cruel practice are so-called secret societies, like the Bondo Society, which brings together around 50, 000 circumcisers. Until now, politicians were powerless against these groups.

However, because the money we earn is not enough to provide for the whole family, she also works in the quarry and helps on farms in the neighbouring communities during harvest.
