80 little Desert Flowers attend the Anerdan Preparatory School Allentown

One year after Desert Flower Foundation Sierra Leone has been established it is already very successful in the fight against FGM and became an influential organization in the country. Our project, "Save a little Desert Flower" was received there very well and today many parents across the whole country want to sign sponsoring contracts with the Desert Flower Foundation.

507,000 (!) Girls Acutely Threatened By FGM

Last week, an international organization Equality Now published the study on FGM in the United States demonstrating that 507,000 girls in this country are acutely threatened by FGM. 26 out of the 50 U.S. states still do not have laws against FGM.

Threre is no excuse for sexual assault or domestic violence, there is no reason that girls should suffer genital mutilation, there is no place in a civilised society for an early or forced marriage of children. Desert Flower Center Berlin

In 2013, we have launched the Desert Flower Center in Berlin. It was worldwide the first medical centre for victims of FGM offering holistic treatment. Led by Dr. Cornelia Strunz, women are treated by gynaecologists, urologists, plastic surgeons, proctologists, psychologists and physiotherapists.
